Weight loss programs can cause much
confusion because they vary widely
Weight loss can come in many forms and there
are as many weight loss programs out there as there are people who use
them. There is no one program that will work for everyone despite the
rhetoric. Everybody’s metabolism is different and the first weight loss
program that you attempt may not do much more than drain your bank
account. Naturally eating healthy and getting the proper amount of
exercise can never hurt and every person reading this will benefit from
this type of lifestyle.
Quick Tips:
1.) Portion Control -
Always be aware of what you are eating and appreciate each meal.
Never eat and forget that you are eating. Taste each bite. It is too
easy to automatically plow though a large quantity of food with out
realizing it!
2.) Have a plan, a
diet plan. Whether low carb, low calorie, vegetarian, high protein,
etc. - just have an accepted plan. Nutrition is important and
should be included. Weight, loss of sleep, feeling tired, moody,
etc. can all be symptoms of poor diet. Many foods are now available
in low carb, low fat, or low calorie/sugar versions. Switch to a
healthy sugar substitute (Splenda might work).
3.) Change your lifestyle.
You may be in a groove that accommodates poor diet and exercise.
4.) Exercise. Easy
tip: exercise by doing something enjoyable. Walk on a nice path,
treadmill with a nice flatscreen and Tivo, sports....
5.) Eliminate trans fats
and bad fats. (Good fats include olive oil, canola oil). Trans fats
may stay in your body forever! Read labels on food.
6.) Consider an
anti-oxidant test. You are probably low on plant foods in your
diet. Lifepak Nano from Pharmanex might be worth a try. (Not a
sponsor of A1-Health-Care).
Weight loss usually comes from diet and controlling
your food intake. Much more than that and you are getting into
scientifically unknown areas. Diet pills, low carb diets, Atkins diet,
South Beach diet, meditation etc, etc. have never been scientifically
proven to work for a broad spectrum of people. Sure they work on some
people but there has never been a magic pill for everyone. This is because
mostly every persons reason for being overweight differs. For a lot of
people it is a heredity factor, genes that tend to cause weight gain
especially in mid life and later years.
Despite what some self proclaimed experts say you
should not force your body to lose weight if you are comfortable with
yourself. A wild fast swing diet can cause a metabolic imbalance that can
result in severe health problems. Unless you are a compulsive over-eater
with no exercise regime you probably are not overweight enough to cause
any significant health problems. People diet for many reasons but a bad
reason is to just lose weight because you want to fit in your high school
prom gown. Bodies change over a lifetime and your attitude should adapt
with that change. Mental attitude is important in weight loss. Binge
eating can be triggered by emotional stress. Get the stress under control
before you start a diet and you will live a longer, healthier life.
Weight
Loss is a lifestyle and a state of mind
Weight loss is a lifestyle and weight control becomes
a natural process when your attitude about yourself is in check. Many
people spend thousands of dollars for fat farms and weight loss programs
that can cause significant weight loss for a short period of time. Shortly
after losing weight these people will gain it all back plus.
Sustained weight loss is not about losing weight, it
must become a state of mind, a change of lifestyle. If your attitude about
yourself is not changed in the process no amount of weight loss will be
maintained. Any good diet must start with changing your attitude about the
way you live and eat. Any person that starves themselves will lose weight.
After the starvation is over the roller coaster ride starts.
There are many safe diets that will allow you to
safely lose weight while teaching you how to maintain your attitude about
your lifestyle and your food intake. Some of the better ones are mentioned
here. Remember fad diets can and do work but there is no long term
scientific studies indicating long term effects from these diets. The best
way to lose weight is to exercise and limit the amount of food you eat.
That’s the smart way to weight loss.
