A mail order pharmacy might be the way to go for
maintenance drugs
For people with chronic conditions who require
ongoing maintenance drugs a mail order pharmacy may be the way to
go. Local drug stores usually charge more than a online or mail order
pharmacy. Setting up an account is usually straight forward. You can order
up to a 90 day supply of your medication for about the same price as a 30
day supply from your local drug store.
You can fill out your prescriptions by mail, email or
online in most cases. In some cases you can even get free shipping on top
of the savings. Many will even call your doctor to get your prescription
if you request it. Some offer an automatic prescription refill service
that will automatically refill, bill and mail your medicine to you five
days before you run out.
Still you need to exercise caution when you deal with
these pharmacies. Choose one that has a pharmacist available who will
answer your questions. There are no refunds for drugs so make sure your
regular doctor knows that you are buying this way. If he should change
your prescription just after you purchased a three month supply all that
money would go down the drain and you might not have enough money
available to cover the prescription unless it was covered by insurance.
Of course prescriptions that are needed right away
should be filled by your neighborhood pharmacy. Mail order takes too long
if you have to have the drug right away. |
