Health care marketing will make us live
forever as long as we keep our colons clean
Health care marketing is
on the rise and you really have to watch out for the quacks. Those that
sell anti-aging pills and the famous colon cleaner. That’s a good one,
how pathetic. The problem is that there are no laws in the US regulating
these ads. They can tell you anything to sell their product. It doesn’t
even have to work either. What a country!
Any unscrupulous person
can throw up a shingle and advertise that their new breakthrough pill will
cure cancer, the common cold and make you live forever. They can lie about
anything at all without retribution.
Check out quackwatch.org
for some great entertainment. Unfortunately it’s all true! According to
them most of these pills are just vitamins. Some quacks will promise to
"detoxify," "purify," or "revitalize" your
body; "balance" its chemistry or "electromagnetic
energy"; bring it in harmony with nature; "stimulate" or
"strengthen" your immune system; "support" or
"rejuvenate" various organs in your body; or stimulate your
body's power to heal itself. If you hear these words run as fast and as
far as you can.
This type of advertising
works because a person with a debilitating problem will try almost
anything to live again in comfort. These are the targets of these ads. By
subtle wording they can lie without lying so if confronted they point out
the way you were meant to perceive the ad which is obviously the exact
opposite of what they wanted you to believe.
Some claims are so
outlandish that you would have to be an idiot to believe them. Here is a
slogan from one of my favorite quacksters. “Over ninety per cent of all
diseases are thought to begin in the colon. So keeping it clean and well
oxygenated is more than just good sense; it is essential. Start
oxygenating yourself and your health will improve.”
